Happy National Day

UAE National Day

Decorated with leaders past and present

The streets of Dubai have grown increasingly red, green, white and black over the last month.  Every morning when I go out on my dog walk I see more flags, decorations and lights.  This culminated in massive celebrations on 2nd December to mark the 40th anniversary of the United Arab Emirates and National Day was commemorated in a plethora of events.  This included a welcome home for the challengers of Gulf for Good’s Cycle the Seven Emirates adventure.  They covered 400km in five days in aid of a children’s charity in Ajman.

I took the dogs down to the beach road and watched the beginning of the procession of cars until I noticed that Hazel was shivering in fear.   She obviously doesn’t like silly string being squirted at her!

UAE National Day

Direct hit :)

Returning with youngest daughter, we laughed, waved and ducked for about an hour, finally wandering home via some beautifully lit houses.  The sound of the beeping horns carried on way after midnight.
